Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Protect yourself from the swine flu by wearing a surgical mask when you are in public places. The swine flu is passed around by airborne particles. See the resource box for where to find surgical masks. This resource has some great information for finding masks to wear.

  2. Step 2

Stay away from people that you know are sick. This includes everyone, not just people that have the flu. The last thing you need to do is lower your immune system by catching anything.

  3. Step 3

Avoid crowded places such as church, brat fry's, concerts and yes, the local shopping mall. People that are sick seem to go out in the public for one reason or another.

  4. Step 4

Avoid sharing foods, beverages and anything else that could go in the mouth. This is especially important for kids to know. School kids are always sharing something. Pencils, pens, drinks and even food can spread the swine flu if a person has the virus.

  5. Step 5

Take sanitizer wipes with you everywhere you do. If you must use a public toilet or eat at a public table, wipe it down with the sanitized wipe before using. Use the sanitized wipes on pencils and pens, laptops and even computer keyboards and mice before using a public computer.

  6. Step 6

Contact your health care professional if you start feeling ill. Always play it safe where the swine flu is concerned. Besides swine flu protection, you have to know if you have the virus so that you can get help immediately.
