Store Freezer Meals in a Small Freezer
Store Freezer Meals in a Small Freezer

Whether you do Once a Month Cooking, Batch cooking or just like to have a few meals in the freezer at all times, don’t let a small freezer deter you from stocking your freezer full of frozen meals.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Leave out the noodles or rice. Just prepare and freeze the sauce for a meal that requires noodles or rice. Cook the noodles or rice at the time when you are serving the meal. You will save some freezer space this way.

  2. Step 2

Don’t stock up on bread and ice cream when you are getting ready to do some freezer meals. Get rid of anything in the freezer that takes up space but doesn’t really have much nutritional value.

  3. Step 3

Use freezer bags for storing your freezer meals. Place a 10” x 10” piece of cardboard between each freezer bag until the meal freezes. Then you can pull the cardboard out. You should have a freezer bag, cardboard, freezer bag, cardboard, etc when you first put the meals in. Then your meals will only take up about an inch of space instead of three or four inches in a container.

  4. Step 4

If you are looking for a larger freezer, keep your eyes and ears open for someone looking to upgrade, downsize or move that wants to get rid of their freezer. You might be able to get a good deal and be able to store even more freezer meals.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be sure to let soup or liquid meals cool before you put them into the freezer bags.
