There are many factors you should consider when shopping for a computer. Hard drive space, RAM, and processing power all play a large part in the overall performance of the computer.

  1. Step 1

    Decide between buying a laptop or a desktop. If you travel frequently, or even like to sit on the couch while you work, you're going to want a laptop. Otherwise, it is best to stick with a desktop. Desktops tend to have more processing power than laptops.

  2. Step 2

    Think about what you need in a computer. If you are a gamer, you are going to want more RAM and a high-end processor with a great video card. You'll also probably want a large, high definition monitor. If you are a businessman, you will need a good wireless card, a strong processor and good amount of RAM. You may also need a webcam so that you can video conference.
