Things You'll Need:
- Daytimer
- Calendar
- Electronic Planner
-
Step 1
Keep your eyes on the PrizeCarefully define what your goal is and what you want to accomplish. Then write it down. Share your goals with someone who wants your success, as much as you do. Don’t generalize or use vague words. Is there a specific project you want completed? If you want to earn a specific amount of money, how many sales will it take (for example) to close to reach it. The more specific you are and the more targeted you can be to monitor your progress along the way.
-
Step 2
Set a clear time table for accomplishing the tasks it will take to reach your goal. Create smaller deadlines to breakdown the larger goal into individual smaller steps. Break a monthly goal into weekly and even daily activities, and stay focused on those.
-
Step 3
Complete one task at a time. Some people are better at multitasking than others, but when we divide our concentration, one of the tasks isn’t getting done as well as it could be. Write every activity you need to do in your planner and do it when it is scheduled.
-
Step 4
Be careful how you spend your time. Ask yourself, “Am I doing something now that could be done later or by someone else, while I spend this time doing a more profitable or necessary activity?”
-
Step 5
Focus working on what is essential while being open to new ways to improve productivity. Just because something has been done the same way in the past, doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way to do it while saving time and money. Ask yourself, “Can this process be done better to achieve the desired results?”
