Things You'll Need:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white corn syrup
- 1 and 1/2 cups half and half
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup pecans, optional
- crock pot or slow cooker

Step 1
Mixing the CaramelMix the sugar and 1/4 cup flour thoroughly in the crock pot. Add the brown sugar, corn syrup and 1 cup of the half and half. Stir well and cover. Cook on high for 2 to 3 hours. While cooking on high, stir every 30 minutes.

Step 2
Make a smooth paste with the melted butter and 1/4 cup flour. Gradually add 1/2 cup half and half. Stir this mixture into the crock pot mixture. Turn on low and cook for 8 to 10 hours. If it does not thicken, turn on high and cook until it coats a spoon. Add the vanilla and chopped pecans, if using. Again, if you need to raise the temperature to thicken stir every 30 minutes.

Step 3
Cutting CaramelPour onto buttered cookie sheet, about 1/2 in deep. Cool until completely cold. Cut with knife or kitchen shears in to desired size and wrap each piece in food wrap.
