  • hoe
  • herbs
  • fertilizers
  • containers
  • water hose
  • water can
  1. Step 1

The first thing you need to do is figure out where you want to plant your herb garden. You need to figure out where would be the best place is. Is there enough light where you want to put the garden is the soil decent enough for the type of plants you are growing.

  2. Step 2

The next thing you would do is see if the garden is accessible. Make sure you can get in and out of your garden without hurting any of your herb plants. Make sure you can have easy access if you are cooking and would like to run out to the garden to pick a few of the herbs for a fresher taste.

  3. Step 3

The last thing to do before you start planting in your herb garden is to make sure you know what size garden you will want to make. You will do this so you will know how many plants to buy and if the job of keeping the garden up will be to much to handle. You would not want to make a garden that would take most of your leisure time up.

  4. Step 4

Not it's time to choose the plants and where you want to plant them. The first thing you would need to know for each herb would be its spacing requirements. You will need to know how much space between each herb to plant them. If you plant them to close they will not grow right. You need to make sure you plant them a few inches apart so they will grow right.

  5. Step 5

The next thing would be how much light each herb plant needs to grow, so that when you start planting you would know where to plant each plant.

  6. Step 6

Next will be what soil type you are planting in. You will need to make sure what type of soil that you have where you are planting. Make sure that the herbs are going to grow in the type of soil that you will be planting in.

  7. Step 7

The next detail you will have to know is the height of each plant. You will need to know this so that you will not plant a taller herb in front of one that would be shorter. If you do this the border of your garden will not look right.

  8. Step 8

The next detail would be your color palette. Here you would need to know which plant colors you would want to put together. Some colors will not match with others, so you will need to know this when you are buying your herbs.
