Athletic female teenagers must compete with their male counterparts in all sports and activities. A girl in her teens who can run, jump and is very athletic can generate jealousy among her female and male friends. Maintaining the right amount of balance will affect how well your raise her.

This eHow article will teach parents how to raise a female in her teens to excel in sports and athletics.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

    **Build confidence**

Encourage your daughter to play sports at a high level. Create excitement in your teenager by registering to play softball, soccer and gymnastics. Verbalize positive encouragement and make sacrifices whenever necessary. Decide in advance how supportive you are going to be with your daughter. Take her to professional sporting events and make sports a priority in the life of your family.

  2. Step 2

    **Attend the games**

Manage your schedule to attend all the organized sporting events of your daughter. In particular, parents should also attend the practices to see how hard she is working during the week. Write down all the practices and games and create a schedule based around her activities. Include the other children in the family whenever it is possible.

  3. Step 3

**Allow her to compete with males**

Push your teenage daughter to play with boys. Typically, girls that play with boys improve faster than girls who do not. Allow her to practice with older boys whenever possible. Relax when the activities get too intense. Be aware of inappropriate physical contact, but also allow your daughter to determine for herself what she can handle.

Tips & Warnings
  • Love your daughter no matter what she does in life.
  • Never, ever tell your daughter, "I don't think you can do that."
