How to Rent A Houseboat Close to Home

Looking for that perfect vacation on a houseboat? Why not rent one and have a secluded get away for you and your family or friends!

Instructions

1. Google houseboat vacations and enter the state you want to go to. For instance "houseboat vacations Kentucky" or "houseboat rentals Tennessee". There should be a place to go within 5-7 hours of your location.

2. Round up a group of friends or your family who are interested in the trip. House boats can accommodate from 6 to 14 people legally...

3. Book the houseboat for the dates your shipmates agree upon. Most trips are Friday - Monday or Monday-Friday. Most marinas will charge a 500-1000 deposit for the boat so make sure you are inviting people who follow through on trips. It is advised that you get a boat when its not in peak season. You can save thousands this way!

4. Bring the items mentioned above. Loud radios, rafts cards and board games are customary (catch phrase is a classic there for us).

5. When you get to the marina they will provide a walk through and show you how to drive the boat. Yes they give you the keys! It may look intimating at first do to the size (up to 90 feet) but its easy to get the hang of driving.

6. Cast off and enjoy!

Tips & Warnings

• Bring a group who can get along with each other well as you will be on the boat with each other up to four days.

• If you plan on bringing alcohol beverages on your boat check and make sure the marina is not in a dry county. If so you will need to buy the drinks on your way down.
