Meeting the girl of your dreams is no small task. It takes a fair amount of luck in addition to strong strategy if you are hoping to find a woman you truly think of as perfect. And even then, it is going to take quite a bit of time. You are probably not going to meet Ms. Right on your first foray into the dating world, and most people search for years to find the one person that makes them feel complete. If you want to increase your odds of meeting your soul mate, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

1. Consider what you are bringing to the table. If you want to meet a fit, attractive woman, for example, you will not have much luck if you are out of shape and wear the same pair of shorts every day. Determine what sort of woman you want to meet, and then try to make lifestyle changes that accommodate your type of girl.

2. Get out of the house and start talking to women. You do not have to be aggressive or overbearing, but you certainly cannot meet the girl of your dreams if you are just sitting on your couch thinking about her. Talk to new people and, at the very least, you will end up with some new friends.

3. Hang out in places that suit your personality. You could meet a girl in a bar, but if you are not the type of person who enjoys hanging around in such places, she is probably not the girl for you. Coffee shops, libraries, museums, farmer's markets, parks and the gym are all excellent places to meet like-minded people.

4. Take a class on something you find interesting. You will automatically have something in common with the girls there, and many classes will force you to interact through partnerships and group activities.

5. Get a dog. If you love dogs and have the means to properly take care of one, he can be your best friend in your hunt for the right girl. Dog parks are full of interesting people, and you can skip cheesy pickup lines by simply asking about another person's pup.

6. Be open to new people and experiences. You never know when your dream girl might bump into you while waiting in line or walking down the street, so it is important to be ready to take chances.

• Avoid sleazy manipulation or "pickup artist" tricks. These may work in the short term, but if you want to meet the girl of your dreams, you will need to treat her with much more respect.
