Things You'll Need:
- roll of masking tape
- caulking gun
- silicone tube
- utility knife
- rag
-
Step 1
After you scrape off the old caulking the wall tile and the tub have to be really dried like nobody used it in 24 hours so your silicone adhesive better. Clean off dust and dirt from the wall tile and tub.
-
Step 2
Take your masking tape and you are going to start masking on the wall tiles. Just from the top surface of the bathtub on the corner to the tub's wall tile, mask the tiles 1/4" from the edge of the tub all the way around the bathtub. Make sure your taping is straight and at 1/4" from the tub to create a same thickness seal line. Even the round corner of the tub you have to mask it 1/4" from the tub.
-
Step 3
Mask the tub along the wall tile 1/4" from the corner. You have to be sure that the masking is straight and cover both the tiles and the tub. Make sure that the space between the masking tapes is even and straight.
-
Step 4
Put the tube of silicone in the caulking gun and slice the tip of it with your utility knife and puncture the seal inside the silicone tip with a long wire or the poker on the caulking gun. Squeeze just the right amount along the corner of the tub and the wall tiles then use your finger and run over the silicone to take out the access silicone. Make sure you have a smooth finish and even silicone along the corner.
-
Step 5
Now clean up your finger and take off the masking tape. When you peel off the masking tape, peel it away from the corner and try to keep the masking tape from touching anything.
