Are you a student here on a visa or recently moved to an English speaking country and you need to know how to learn to speak English. It is not difficult, especially if you are in an English speaking country.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    SUBMERGE YOURSELF - Submerge yourself in the language. Surround yourself with English speaking people and do your best to keep up. They will help you. Speak in English even if you don't think that you have the words exactly right. You will do better over time, know one will laugh at you, they will help you. You need to submerge yourself in English if you want to learn how to learn to speak English.

  2. Step 2

    PRACTICE - Practice speaking English every day. If you are practicing English all day every day you will learn quickly. Read as much as you can in English. Listen to the radio and television in English. Watch English speaking soap operas. They speak slowly and you will be able to follow what is going on and learn to speak English.

  3. Step 3

    DON'T FALL BACK TO YOUR NATIVE LANGUAGE - Until you are proficiently speaking English, don't rely on others who speak your native language to help you. Push yourself to learn to speak English. The more you rely on your native language the longer it will take to learn English. If you are living in an English speaking country it is imperative that you learn the language to prosper. Now you know how to learn to speak English.

on 4/27/2009 Learning to speak English in this country is a must. I think you are right in saying not to speak your own language until you have mastered your new one.
