How to Prepare for the G.E.D. Test

The General Education Development, or G.E.D. test is used to measure knowledge of those who have not received a high school diploma or completed the high school curriculum. Many people realize that obtaining a high school diploma, or equivalency is vital to securing a meaningful career, so the G.E.D. test allows for them to obtain their high school diploma by taking and passing a multi-part test. The G.E.D. consists of five multiple-choice tests in the subject areas of Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, Reading, and Mathematics. Each of these subject areas covers what a typical high school student would learn by the end of their senior year.

Developed in 1942 actually as a mean of allowing WWII veterans to complete high school, statistics now show that 1 of every 9 high school diplomas is actually a GED credential. Furthermore, 1 of every 20 freshmen college students are G.E.D. graduates.

The importance of passing the General Education Development test is significant for many students, but obtaining successful achievement does not always come easy. Fortunately, there are many resources available for G.E.D. students to assist in preparing for this important test. Learn how to prepare for the G.E.D. test by reading more.
