A card that reads: "Oh mom, you are the best!" is sweet, but probably won't cut it as a Mother's Day gift—but you're warm. Just expand the sentiment to a book that includes each and every little thing you love about your mom. Here's some inspiration.

From Quick Guide: Celebrate Mother's Day
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tokens of what you love about your mom
  • Medium to bring them to life
  • A day to spend with your mom
  • A big kiss for your mom
  1. Step 1

Decide on your medium. It can be a premade blank page book or journal, a homemade blank book (even more charming) or scan and upload to a digital bookmaking site.

  2. Step 2

Collect tokens of what you love about your mom. These samples are meant to help you remember things about your mom to include in your book.

Begin your book with a sentiment along these lines:

    Dear Mom,

There are too many things that I love about you to list, but I'm going to try to get a few down in honor of Mother's Day.

  3. Step 3

I love that you don't censor your emails. You can include sweet and funny emails from your mom. Check out Post Cards From Yo Mamma for proof that you are not alone (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

I love that you have always been cool. Include photos of your mom wearing a pants suit (or other applicable fashion icon ensemble or accessory...Jackie O. glasses anyone?). If you don't have photos of your mom wearing anything like this, then find a photo of the garment and write what you remember about her wearing it.

  5. Step 5

I love that you tried so hard to make my favorite meals. Include recipes/recipe cards and photos of you cooking together.

  6. Step 6

I love that you said you liked my hair no matter how hideous I styled it. Throw in photos of your most memorable hair styles, scans of your hair accessories, images of what you were going for (i.e. who you thought you looked like!).

  7. Step 7

I love that you left little notes for me in my pockets and lunchbox. Include copies of the notes or text from what you remember her writing.

  8. Step 8

I love that you are an amazing grandmother. Include photos of her with her grandchildren.

  9. Step 9

I love that you are a generous friend and teacher. Include labels from the roses (or other flowers) she helped you pick out and taught you how to plant and perhaps photos of the resulting garden.

  10. Step 10

I love that you are a treasured human being. Include your written thoughts about how she impacted your life, helped you to be a better person and how much you love her.

  11. Step 11

Once you've collected your tokens, insert/upload your materials to your desired medium. Give it to Mom with a big kiss and hold her hand throughout the day!
