How to Get Rid of Bubbles in Drywall Tape

Putting up drywall is easy. The only hang-up is that bubbles often form under the tape after it has been mudded. Read on for easy ways to take care of this problem with drywall, and also ways to prevent it.

Instructions

1. If the drywall air bubble is insignificant, make a small incision in the bubble, and press the air out. Apply mud both under, and over the drywall tape, and smooth. This works well for drywall mistakes that are smaller than 6 inches long.

2. If the drywall tape is protruding in an area larger than 6 inches, peel the tape off, and re-mud the wall joint. When you re-tape the drywall, make sure you apply the tape quickly; before it has had the chance to dry at all.

3. To prevent this annoyance when using drywall, try slightly moistening the tape beforehand so that it is not so dry. The extra moisture will help it to adhere better to the drywall mud, preventing air pockets.

4. Try adhesive drywall tape. There are many different taping options and a lot of them actually stick to the mud which can help you avoid this drywall problem entirely.
