Set A Pick In A Basketball Game
Set A Pick In A Basketball Game

Learn to set a proper pick in a basketball game. This is essential in a good pick and roll play.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3-4 players
  • Basketball
  • Basketball Court
  1. Step 1

You are setting a pick to stop your teammate's defender from being able to cover your teammate.
Plant your feet and DO NOT budge, or you will be called for a moving pick, or a foul. Keep your arms in and down or crossed across your chest. Do not keep them out or use your hands or elbow to stop the defender, that will be a foul.

  2. Step 2

Have your teammate lead his defender into you, while you get set up in a position to where the defender cannot just run right around you, but can still see you and be aware that you are there. If not, they may run blindly into you at full force and cause some injury to themselves or to you.

  3. Step 3

When the defender moves into you, stand your ground. Do not lean into them, grab them, anything like that or it will be a foul. Then be ready, because a shot is probably going up very soon and you should be aware and ready to box out for the rebound.
