Things You'll Need:
- Measuring tape
- Room measurements where AC is being installed.
-
Step 1
Always choose an air conditioner models that are Energy Star approved. This will ensure that all the EER (energy efficient ratios) are fully meet.
-
Step 2
Look for models that use 1 watt or less in standby mode. Air conditioners with remote controls and digital displays use electricity even when the AC is turned off. Avoid these types if possible.
-
Step 3
Take room measurements before shopping for an air conditioner. This will help the sales person select the correct size for the room.
-
Step 4
Never buy an air conditioner that is too large for the room you need to cool. Oversized units will not only use excessive energy but will not effectively remove humidity due to excessive on-off cycling.
