Do you want to spruce up a boring pair of flip-flops? This is an easy summer craft to make flip- flops that pop! These flip- flops can also be made at slumber parties, luau, beach themed birthday parties or anytime you’d like a cheap easy craft to keep kids entertained. These party favors can also be taken home instead of goody bags.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cheap pair of flip- flops
  • A bag of balloons
  • Permanent markers
  1. Step 1

Use permanent makers to decorate the rubber sides of the flip- flops. You can color your name, polka dots, a favorite band, or draw a picture. Use your imagination. Make sure you do not color on the bottoms or tops, because even though the makers are permanent, they can rub off on floors and feet.

  2. Step 2

Take a balloon and loop it around the sandal part of the flip- flop. If you are doing a pattern it would be best to start at the sides of the flip- flop and work your way to the toe.

  3. Step 3

Tie a knot. (Cross right side over left. Pull left side under and through while holding tight to right side…Like tying a shoe.) This will usually hold, but if you want extra durability, double knot.

  4. Step 4

Keep tying balloons on the flip- flop until you achieve the effect you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • If doing this for a party, you may want to get all the same color flip flops so children won’t argue.
  • Permanent marker is permanent. It will stain.
  • Balloons are a choking hazard for children under 3.
  • Balloons are also a choking hazard to all children if they put them in their mouth. Children usually stop doing this at age 3, but if they haven’t yet, this may not be the craft for them.
