Here you will learn how simple it is to breed and raise crickets (Achetus domesticus) for all of your critters.....bearded dragons,Leos,Tarantulas, etc

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • male and female crickets
  • peatmoss
  • distilled water
  • containers (deli cups will do)
  • Ten gallon tank
  • egg cartons
  • dry dog food and water
  1. Step 1
    Cricket Setup
    Cricket Setup

Take your Ten gallon tank and throw in some egg cartons along
with dry dog food and water. It doesn't have to be dry dog food though,
crickets eat all sorts of stuff like carrots, potatoes, apples, chicken feed and fish flakes. After you got that basic setup your ready for the actual breeding process

  2. Step 2
    egg incubator

Next get some peat moss and add water preferably distilled water since it has no added chemicals. Mix it up good until the moss is soaked. Then take a hand full of it and squeeze the excess water out. Place that in a shallow deli cup container and you have your egg incubator ready

  3. Step 3

Then place the egg incubator with the adults and they should start digging around and laying eggs that look like tiny grains of rice.
You could also raise the temp to 82

  4. Step 4
    newly emerged crickets

When you spot lots of eggs remove the container and place the lid on.
In a week or two you should have lots of pin head crickets.
Put them in another container and feed them what you feed the adults .... just in smaller pieces and in smaller quantities

Tips & Warnings
  • peat moss works good, but you can also use coconut husk
  • Watch for mold in the incubator medium (the moist peat moss)
  • check on the eggs every now and then after the seventh day
