Things You'll Need:
- Sea glass, tile, stones, crystals, beads, jewelry
- Picture frames, glass candle holder, vase or planter
- Craft glue or waterproof adhesive
-
Step 1
Spray Painted FramePaint your frame or wooden object a background color that works with the glass or stones. Spray paint is quick and easy and works well on a wooden or metal surface.
-
Step 2
Dry Fit the Sea GlassDry fit a base layer of sea glass or tile to a section of the surface you plan to mosaic. This is not a must, but sea glass fits like a puzzle and it helps to piece a section before you glue it. Begin in the corner if you’re making a frame and work from the bottom up if your project includes a vertical surface.
-
Step 3
Glue the Sea GlassGlue your glass in place. If you’re making an indoor mosaic, craft glue like E6000 works well. For outdoor projects like a bowling ball turned garden art, use a strong waterproof adhesive like Liquid Nail. Let the adhesive dry.
-
Step 4
Embellish the MosaicAdd accent crystals, stones or beads on top of the sea glass for dimension and impact. Cover any openings between the glass pieces first, then place them as you like for effect. Flat backed marbles, small colored stones and vintage jewelry can also be added to your mosaic. Drape a strand of small beads for movement or hang a pendant with a twist of wire. Let your imagination dictate your choices.
