Step 1
Many dogs remind us of pieces of fruit or a certain vegetable. Take a look at you puppy and see if you find anything on him that leads you to think about that produce in any way.
-
Step 2
Look in books for dog names.Considering a favorite story as a child, can lead you to a wonderful name that might not have been used for a long time, if ever. The older the story book, the better access to unusual dog names to choose for your dog.
-
Step 3
A two syllable dogs name seem to be an easy to say one, when calling your dog. Remember this when an idea comes to your mind. You can always add a "Y" at the end of many names to satisfy that idea. Search the newspapers in the funny section to be introduced to a prospective name for your pet.
-
Step 4
Some thought can bring a great name to your mind.If the breed of dog is a real dominant one, you might choose a regal term for a name for your dog. Even if you do not select that royal term, you could consider mixing up the letters in that word to make a new word and thus the name for your pet dog.
-
Step 5
The more you see dogs, the more easily the names will flow.Attend dog shows to hear some different names for dogs that you might want to choose for your hound. Even if you do not hear the name, sometimes a suggestion can trigger another idea for a name for your newest member of the family. Enjoy the search for the name for your dog.

on 6/14/2009 Our 10-year-old Lab is named Yoshi. My daughter was 3 when she named the puppy. It took me a while not to think of the dog as a cartoon character. When I call to Yoshi, people look at me kind of weird. It's funny.
