Bruises can be very irritating especially if you are getting ready for a hot date. Here is how to get rid of bruises quicker.

Instructions

    • 1

Make sure to have an ice pack in your freezer at all times. This will enable you to put it on the bruise as soon as it happens. You will likely want to keep the ice pack on the bruise for a minimum of 15 minutes. This will help minimize the chance of getting a bruise and minimize the degree of any bruise you get. You will want to repeat this treatment every two hours for 24 hours. Make sure not to apply heat in between treatments, although this will likely be very tempting and heat may initially make the bruise feel better.

    • 2

Next after the 24 hour period is over use heat. The reason you do this is that for the first 24 hours you want to constrict the blood vessels so that less blood will spill into the tissue from broken blood vessels. The blood in the tissues is what causes bruises. After 24 hours the blood vessels will likely have sealed so you want to use heat to improve circulation by dilating the vessels.

    • 3

Make sure to elevate the area where your bruise it because liquids including blood tend to move downhill so by elevating the area you will encourage the blood to move out of those areas.

    • 4

Now add vitamin C to your diet. There are several studies that suggest vitamin C helps prevent and heal bruises. This is because it helps build protective collagen around the blood vessels.

    • 5

Pay attention to what medicines you are taking. There are many medicines that will inhibit clotting or thin blood which can put you at a much larger risk of developing a bruise. If you are taking medicines, drinking a significant amount of alcohol, or abusing drugs contact a medical professional to discuss bruising. All of these things put you at a greater risk for bruising.

    • 6

Note that if you do not discover your bruise immediately or within the first 24 hours you may want to skip the ice and go straight to heat because chances are the healing process has already begun.

  • Keep parsley packed ice cubes in your freezer so that you can put them on a bruise.
