Take stock of the colors you know suit you. Do you look good in rich colors, such as navy blue, dark green, plum, black, fire-engine red, hot pink, magenta or silver? You probably have a cool skin tone. Do you look good in warm, earthy colors, such as light green, gold, mocha, peach, orange or bronze? You probably have a warm skin tone.

Pull your hair back into a bun or a ponytail. Hold up a white piece of paper and look into the mirror. If your skin looks more yellow next to the paper, you have a warm skin tone. If your face looks bluish, you have a cool skin tone.

Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If the veins have a greenish color, then you have a warm skin tone. If they are more blue, then you have a cool skin tone.

Go to mirror and turn away from it. Take another mirror and angle it so you can see the back of your head. Fold over your ear so you can see the crease behind it. Make sure you are not wearing any makeup. If the crease is yellow, you have a warm skin tone. If it is pink, you have a cool skin tone.

Look closely at your skin. You have a warm skin tone if you have yellow, golden or apricot undertones. You have a cool skin tone if you have rosy undertones.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are some women that have neutral skin tones. They usually look good in all colors. However, even they may look better in certain colors since no one has a perfectly neutral skin tone.
