How to Fake a Tan

Faking a tan is fairly easy and is better than basting in the sun for hours and then ending up with a sunburn. Here is one sure way to fake a tan without the sunburn.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Faking a tan is easy and is safer than the natural way of using harmful sun rays to get that golden bronze that makes you look like you just got back from a vacation. You will have to purchase a few products but the purchases are well worth it when you think of the hotter consequences. This cheat sheet is sure to win you stares on the beaches and have people wondering how did you get that magnificent tan?

  2. Step 2

You will have to buy bronzer or self tanners. These self tanners attaches to the amino acids in the top layer of the skin. Scrub these self tanner on for an even tone and then use a buffer with sugar to slather on. These self tanning products can be purchased on the drugstore. You must moisturize from head to toe to minimize dry spots which absorbs excess pigment. To start, use a gradual tanner, it helps regular tanner to look more natural.

  3. Step 3

Apply the self tanner in a circular motion to avoid streaks. If you are using an aerosol, hold the can at least two feet from your body and keep it moving to keep from landing too much of the self tanner in one place. To reach your back, put the self tanner on a plastic wrap and swish in across your back the way you would a towel while drying your back The plastic wrap needs to be at least three feet long. It may be easier to spray the aerosol self tanner in the air while in the shower and step backwards into the mist. Repeat the procedure until you are beautifully bronzed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not expose aerosol can to high temperatures and follow the direction of the products you decide to use.

on 4/26/2009 Thank you for your comment Jull14said. SPF levels are higher than SPF 30 to protect your skin from sunburn. Never use SPF 15.
