You have been looking at your computer all day and just can't take it anymore. Your eyes are sore, dry and irritated and all you want to do is close them. That may not be such a bad idea as you are probably suffering from eyestrain. Here are some tips on how to ease the pain and discomfort associated with eyestrain.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Visit to Eye Doctor
  • water
  • eye drops
  • lighting
  1. Step 1
Glasses may be just what you need to get rid of your tired eyes.

Is there a Doctor in the house? First you will need to get an eye doctor to check your vision and make sure that you don't have an astigmatism or a more serious condition like glaucoma. Once it has been determined that your eyes are not "sick" and just tired then you can take the following steps to help relieve your eyestrain.

  2. Step 2
    Lighting please.

Can I get a light? How is the lighting in your room? If it is too dark you may be straining your eyes to see. If there is too much you may be overloading your eyes with light, thus causing them to feel strained. A good solution is to make sure the brightness of your computer is about as bright as the room that you are in. Another good idea when it comes to light is to use the type of light that shines on your ceiling instead of dirrectly at your work. You want it bright enough to help you see, but you don't want it so bright in your room that you have to wear sunglasses.

  3. Step 3
    Take a break!

Give it a rest. Make sure you take your eyes away from your work every now and then. Close your eyes for a few minutes or better yet, get up and walk away for a minute. Make sure you are getting enough rest at night.

  4. Step 4
    Water, water, everywhere...

Add water. Splash water on your face or use eyedrops to help alleviate the dryness. If you keep a humidifier in the room, that will also help keep your eyes moist,

on 6/12/2009 Nicely written! I was having such difficulty focusing on the computer screen about six months ago and went to the eye doctor. My eyes needed some "help" and now I wear glasses just for my computer work. It's made a huge difference. 5*****
