Step 1
Spend quality time with each one of your children. Children love the attention that they get from their parents. Quality time spent with your child can make a huge difference in your child's confidence and improve your relationship with your child.
-
Step 2
Learn about your child's interests, such as hobbies, sports or favorite thing to play. One great way to becoming a better parent is to gain an interest in your child's interests. Be involved in things that they enjoy doing.
-
Step 3
Listen to your child. Open up lines of communication with your child. Don't let the lines be one sided, rather listen to what they have to say. Let them express their thoughts and feelings.
-
Step 4
Set rules and boundaries for your children that are practical and fair. Enforce the rules with consequences. Regardless of bad you may feel about having to discipline your child, remember that rules are very important to your child.
-
Step 5
Read parenting books and other articles about parenting. There is always room to improve your parenting skills. As children grow their needs will change and the discipline they may need will change as well. Educating yourself and learning new ways of parenting will be a big part of becoming a better parent.
