1. The summer months are quickly approaching and many people may be considering planting flowers or starting their own flower garden for the first time. A first time flower garden really is not all that hard to start and maintain throughout the warm months of summer.

2. First, you must pick an area outside either in your backyard or in the front of your house. If you have a lawn in front and back you may have to do some digging and turning of the dirt. After you pick the spot, it is best to block the area off by using a wooden or plastic type fence. Next, decide exactly what you want to plant ex, Mums, Roses, etc. If you must dig and prepare the dire, it is a good idea to purchase some top soil to add to the earth that already exists. make sure you get rid of any roots or rocks beneath the earth. Roots can choke and kill flowers.

3. Finally, after preparing the earth and adding potting soil, you can begin planting your flowers. Whatever flowers you choose, make sure you leave at least an inch and a half space between each plant. You can purchase flowers that are already in bloom or you can try planting seeds. Planting seeds is a bit harder because the ground and climate has to be right or they may not grow. Good luck!
