Things You'll Need:
- Twitter Account (Free and Easy to Sign up)
-
Step 1
The simplest way to get more followers on Twitter is to follow other people. Start with your own friends then follow people who you'd like to get to know. By following other people, most of them will follow you back. Don't take it personally if they don't follow you back.
-
Step 2
When you follow people, start first by following people with pictures, and not the generic twitter icon. The people with pics other than the generic twitter icon, are usually more serious about using Twitter and are generally more active users. These people will more likely follow you back.
-
Step 3
Beware of the locked updates. Its OK if you invite your friends who have locked 'tweets', but when you follow strangers with locked 'tweets', the chances are slim that they will follow you back.
-
Step 4
Follow a bundle of users and wait a day or two to have them decide to follow you back. If they haven't followed you back, unfollow them to make way for other people to follow. Keep in mind that Twitter doesn't let you add over 2000 people until you have near that number following you. Continue to repeat this step until you are satisfied with your number of followers. Your number of followers is not a race, unless you are 'CNN' or 'Ashton Kutcher', who recently had a race to 1 million followers. Ashton won by a small margin.
-
Step 5
Be patient while you wait for your followers to increase. 'Tweet' about what your honestly doing or feeling as well as share some interesting links. Vary it up. Put links to other places as well as daily info about what you are up to.
-
Step 6
Be true to your followers. Read their tweets and respond to some of them. You don't have to say a lot. A simple response or direct message will go a long way. This is how you develop good followers on Twitter; by being 'genuine' and 'real' with your fellow Twitterers.
