So you'd like to start an ezine to promote your blog or business? Awesome! Having a list of people who are interested in what you do can be a great way to generate more passive income and make affiliate sales!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An internet connection
  • About an hour, can be broken down into 5-10 minute segments.
  1. Step 1

Sign up for an ezine sending account (link below). This ezine sending account will keep track of your new subscribers and unsubscribers AND it includes free HTML email newsletter templates so that your message will look great!

  2. Step 2

Set up the subscribe form on your blog or website. This couldn't be easier because the ezine sending system will automatically generate the code for the subscribe form. Then, you'll just add it through your blog's interface. (They even include the instructions--I'd put them here too, but they're different depending on if you're using WordPress, TypePad, or Blogger, so it's better if you just get the instructions when you generate the subscribe form.)

  3. Step 3

Before you can start sending your ezine, you're going to have to select your favorite HTML template from the ones available. They have over 100 so you're sure to find one you love. You can customize it a bit to make it look more like your blog, if you'd like.

  4. Step 4

Start your ezine with a really simple article--it can be short and sweet. Introduce your new ezine to your readers (of which you'll probably only have a handful to start). Don't spend too much time on this first issue. I've found limiting yourself to no more than 20 minutes can result in a good quality first ezine issue that you actually send instead of spending hours and never quite being ready to click that send button.

  5. Step 5

Send it out! And then do it all again. When you start an ezine, frequency is really important. Just like successful blogs get new content regularly, so do ezines. So, if you're promoting an affiliate program, publish a new article once a week. If you're promoting your own stuff, you can publish a little less often (say every two weeks) because you'll need time to take care of all your new customers!!

Tips & Warnings
  • Congratulate yourself! You've proved you've got what it takes to start an ezine and that is awesome. Seriously. Most people just wish they could publish an ezine, and you've actually done it.
  • Have patience. While a lot of people do make lots of money publishing ezines, it usually takes a month or two of issues before your list starts to grow and your readers start to feel comfortable enough with you to buy from you. So, give it time and it'll pay off!
