How to Change a bicycle tire with simple tools

Are you frequently inflating your bicycle tires? Maybe its time to change inner tubes to new one. In this article, you will learn to change bicycle tires using few simple tools found at your house. It should take about 10 minutes to complete the step. The front tire is easier to repair than rear tire.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • adjustable wrench, two large flat screw drivers or similar, air pump, gloves.
  1. Step 1

    remove the wheel from the frame of the bike using the adjustable wrench. lay it in order of removal so during installation, it will eliminate confusions.

  2. Step 2

    bleed out all of the air. squeeze tires if necessary to completely remove air. lay on the flat surface.

  3. Step 3

    insert the screw driver between the wheel and tire and pop out the tire gently. you may need to perform next step before popping out the tire from wheel.

  4. Step 4

    insert second screw driver next to it and repeat. using the screw driver, follow along the rim and go around completely.

  5. Step 5

    remove tire 1/2 way from the wheel. grab the old tube and take out gently.

  6. Step 6

    remove any nails or sharp objects that caused tube to leak air.

  7. Step 7

    insert new tube reversing the step above. align the refill hole.

  8. Step 8

    press the tire back into the wheel. completely go around and press back in.

  9. Step 9

    check to see air refill tube is aligned correctly. if not, slide the tire bit to correctly set the angle.

  10. Step 10

    pump air back into the tube.

  11. Step 11

    install wheel back to the frame.

Tips & Warnings
  • since you are working with tools that might be sharp at the edges, wearing leather gloves is recommended.
