Interval training is a great way to stay motivated and mix up your work out.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Treadmill or outside
  1. Step 1

You can do interval training either in the gym on the treadmill, at home on your treadmill, or outside where you can walk and run. Begin by walking briskly for one minute.

  2. Step 2

Next, you will want to increase your speed to a jog for one minute. Alternate in this way for as long as you possibly can. While you are walking, you should be able to speak easily, and may be a little winded. During your burst of speed, you should be capable of talking, though it will be slightly more difficult.

  3. Step 3

For variety, on the treadmill, you can increase your incline to make it a little more challenging. As your stamina increases, you can extend the amount of time from one minute to two minutes, etc. You can continue to extend each time period as needed, allow for a longer recovery while walking if necessary.

  4. Step 4

Remember to stay hydrated and make sure to drink enough water after you finish your interval training.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always consult your physician before starting a new exercise program.
