A Micro SD Card
A Micro SD Card

Sometimes you have a micro, or mini, SD card with content you need to duplicate to another card. You can easily put the files on your computer or another card if you have the right tools, namely a micro SD adapter and a computer with an SD card slot.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 Micro SD Cards
  • Micro SD adapter
  • Computer with an SD card slot.
  1. Step 1

First insert the Micro SD card into the micro SD adapter. The adapter will be an SD card with a slot to insert the micro card. I was able to buy a micro SD card and adapter as a pair for $5. See the image for details on what the adapter looks like.

  2. Step 2

Next, insert the micro SD card and adapter into your computer's SD slot. Most new media friendly laptop and desktop PC computers have this slot.

  3. Step 3

Use windows file manager to copy the files to your computer. In "My Computer", Windows will generally recognize your SD card automatically as "Removable Media". In this image example, it showed up as drive F: (Lexar).

  4. Step 4

Copy the files to a new folder on your desktop by dragging them over holding down the right mouse button. Choose the "copy" option. Once the copy is complete, remove the first Micro SD card (using the safely remove hardware feature in the task bar) and then insert the new card.

  5. Step 5

Move the files from your desktop to the new SD card that will show up in My Computer by dragging the files over and dropping them in the blank card.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not take out the first card until you click on safely remove hardware and disable the card. Just pulling it out can damage it.
  • If your computer does not have an SD slot, you can buy a USB adapter, you can also duplicate it through your camera or digital device if you can hook it directly to the computer.
  • Don't overpay for a Micro SD adapter, I got mine for free with my SD card for $5.
