Wanting to maximize the efficacy of Gingko Leaf? Chew it! here's how to handle that bitter taste! /^^\

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • glass of water
  • sugar or salt
  • Gingko leaf from your local whole foods store
  1. Step 1

Grab "more than a pinch" of gingko leaf from the bag. if you're going to chew it once a day, make it less than a handful. If its twice a day, I like to do as much as would go in a teabag.

  2. Step 2

With your other hand, put some salt or sugar in your mouth. Gingko has a slightly bitter taste, so offsetting it with sugar and /or salt will only help.

  3. Step 3

chew it alot. This will release those good gingko oils. probably 45 seconds is adequate.

  4. Step 4

Drink water to handle the bitter taste and aid digestion. /^^\

  5. Step 5

Enjoy the taste! I have found this method to be more efficacious than Gingko tea. With the Gingko tea, you are only getting 75% of the essential Gingko oil in to your stomache. The tea is great; this way is just a little bit better. Drinking the tea also takes a little longer, this way is a bit more time efficient. Since this taste is bitter, you can also pear it (pun intended) with fruit! Apples are good, Oranges will probably taste the best for a natural alternative to the sugar. Sweeteners like Splenda will also work, but oranges or table sugar are preferred.

Tips & Warnings
  • IF you get to doing this for 1-2 weeks, you will not need sugar. This sugar helps, but if you are hypoglycemic, you will want to not add the sugar as soon as you can tolerate the bitter, but good for you, taste of the gingko leaf.
  • IF you eat too much gingko, or give it to your children, some people in China have reported side effects. Personally I think this is just indigestion, and with all things, use reason. Enjoy! /^^\
