1
Purchase a blank scrapbook and various page fillers such as stickers, icons and headlines that can be stuck onto scrapbook pages. Personalize the pages for either a boy or a girl. Use ranges of blue and brown for a boy's book and pink and green for a girl's book. Insert key milestone memorabilia like a snip of the baby's hair or the hospital identification bracelet to add a personal touch to the baby book.

Find a soft receiving blanket at a custom baby store or a large department store. Pick a pink blanket for a girl or blue blanket for a boy. You can also buy a neutral color blanket and use pink or blue thread for the embroidery. Have a custom embroidery shop embroider the baby's name and the birth date on the blanket with contrasting thread.

Buy cotton washable diapers and customize them, depending on whether the gift is for a girl or a boy. These diapers are used by many mothers as burping rags. Sew on a long strip of grosgrain ribbon in either pink gingham or blue gingham down the length of the diaper. You can also have the baby's name embroidered in the thread to match the ribbon for extra personalization. This creates a useful and cute gift for a baby.
