Watching birds frolicking in the yard is an enjoyable pastime. Birds are always busy either building nests, eating or bathing. Making bird feeders right off of the patio or deck railings can bring the birds in closer for a better view of them. Once they get used to you, there will be several that will come to eat. Determine how many feeders you want and where you want to place the feeders. Keep in mind, with this type of feeder, it is important to hang them where they will be protected from the rain so the birdseed does not mold before the birds eat it all. Some good places include on the railings or on the side of the house under the eaves or roof.

Fill the saucer with bird seed and sit on the pot ring. When the birds come, they will stand on the edges and eat.

You can also use any size plastic bowl, such as butter bowls, in place of the flower pot saucer.

Instead of using a flower pot ring, cut or drill holes in the sides of any open container. Attach lengths of chain and hang from a tree branch or the roof rafters of a carport or deck.

Tips & Warnings
Paint the saucer in bright colors. Purchase pot rings that stand in the ground.
