Things You'll Need:
- 1 inch wide Grosgrain Ribbon
- Tape Measure
- Scissors
- 3/8 inch wide Grosgrain Ribbon
- Craft Wire
- Wire Clippers
- Hot Glue Gun
- Flip Flops
-
Step 1
Select a Grosgrain Ribbon that is at least an inch wide. This type of ribbon is ideal because the tight weave and rugged texture provides a sturdy bow. Cut the ribbon to 23 inches.
-
Step 2
Create a 4 inch loop with this ribbon. The long tail of the ribbon should be on top and the short tail of the ribbon lies underneath.
-
Step 3
Fold the long tail of the ribbon up toward the loop. Hold on to the loops.
-
Step 4
Create another loop with the long tail again, and fold the long tail down to make another loop.
-
Step 5
Fold the rest of the long tail up towards the loop once again. You should now be holding several loops between your fingers.
-
Step 6
Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the center of the completed loops.
-
Step 7
Wrap the craft wire several times around the center where you are pinching the completed loops. Trim any excess wire with wire clippers
-
Step 8
Cut the 3/8 inches wide Grosgrain ribbon about 5 inches length for the middle of your new bow. Cover the length of craft wire with this piece of ribbon.
-
Step 9
Place your bow on the location that you desire on your flip flop. Take the 3/8 inch wide ribbon that is wrapped around the center of your bow and wrap it around the upper part of the flip flop. Hold the ribbon in place and turn over your flip flop so its easy to see the underside of the bow.
-
Step 10
Glue the 3/8 inch wide ribbon to the underside of your flip flop. Be sure that the bow is glued securely to the flip flop. Remove any excess 3/8 inch wide ribbon.
-
Step 11
Repeat steps 1-10 to create another cute bow to place on your other flip flop.
