One of the most frustrating limitations of Apple's iPod line of products is the inability to transfer songs from the device back to your PC. Fortunately, there is a wide range of software on the Internet to solve this problem. This guide will walk you through using the free program PodtoPC to copy music and videos from an iPod/iPhone/iTouch back to your PC.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PodtoPC program
  1. Step 1

Start PodtoPC, and wait for it (and iTunes) to load.

  2. Step 2

Connect your iPod via USB, and wait for it to be "discovered" by PodtoPC.

  3. Step 3

Click the "automatic transfer" button in the bottom right of the PodtoPC window.

  4. Step 4

Confirm that all the tracks you wish to copy are selected in the track listing. There is no need to worry about tracks you already have in your library; they will be skipped automatically.

  5. Step 5

Click the "Transfer Checked Tracks" button in the bottom-right corner of the PodtoPC window, and watch as the program transfers content from your iPod to your PC.
