How to Transfer Files From an iPod to a PC

One of the most frustrating limitations of Apple's iPod line of products is the inability to transfer songs from the device back to your PC. Fortunately, there is a wide range of software on the Internet to solve this problem. This guide will walk you through using the free program PodtoPC to copy music and videos from an iPod/iPhone/iTouch back to your PC.

Things You'll Need:

• PodtoPC program

1. Start PodtoPC, and wait for it (and iTunes) to load.

2. Connect your iPod via USB, and wait for it to be "discovered" by PodtoPC.

3. Click the "automatic transfer" button in the bottom right of the PodtoPC window.

4. Confirm that all the tracks you wish to copy are selected in the track listing. There is no need to worry about tracks you already have in your library; they will be skipped automatically.

5. Click the "Transfer Checked Tracks" button in the bottom-right corner of the PodtoPC window, and watch as the program transfers content from your iPod to your PC.
