How to Make Plastic Cord Cross Necklaces
Plastic cord cross necklaces are a favorite craft activity for Vacation Bible School and summer camps because of the simple instructions and minimal craft materials needed. Use colored pony beads like those in salvation bracelets for a witnessing tool or use a monochromatic scheme.

1
Cut a long piece of plastic cord about 36 inches long. Lay out two vertical rows of four pony beads each, two vertical rows of 3 pony beads each and four horizontal rows of 3 beads each.
-
2
Pull the ends of the cord together. Thread 4 pony beads on one side of the cord and four on the other side of the cord. Pull them to the bottom, keeping the ends drawn up together. Line these two rows of beads up vertically. Tie the long ends together just above the two rows and spread one end to the left and one end to the right.

3
Take the left end of the cord and thread it through 3 pony beads. Pull them to the center knot above the two vertical rows. Fold the left strand back toward the right and thread 3 more pony beads on it. Form two horizontal rows of 3 beads each, making the left arm of the cross. Make the right arm of the cross by thread 3 pony beads onto the right strand. Fold the strand back to the left and thread 3 more beads on it.
-
4
Wrap the left strand down around the two horizontal rows of beads as close to the first knot as possible. Draw it straight back up. Wrap the right strand around the two right rows of beads and draw it straight up parallel to the left strand. Thread 3 pony beads down the left strand vertically. Thread the last 3 beads down the right strand. Line these up as two vertical rows even with the bottom part of the cross.
-
5
Tie the two strands together in a knot as close to the top of the cross as possible. Hold the ends of the necklace up around your neck. Place the cross where you want it to hang and tie the ends of the necklace behind your neck in a double knot. Trim the excess cord.
