Dialysis technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, which are instruments that purify the blood of patients who no longer have kidneys that function correctly. Because these technicians must monitor the dialysis machines and interact with patients, there are a number of things that a resume can highlight to make it more attractive to the people who are looking to hire dialysis technicians. For example, any previous employment history that shows experience with monitoring machine gauges and dials would be helpful.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Notebook
  • Pen
  1. Step 1

Start writing your resume with a notebook and pen so you can make notes easily in the margins. Many times you'll find information comes to you after you start writing your resume. After writing out your resume on paper you can then transfer it into a computer file. Put your name and contact information in the upper left corner.

  2. Step 2

Follow your contact information with your career objective, which should state that you want to work as a dialysis technician. Mention how the work is satisfying for you on a personal and career level.

  3. Step 3

List your work history. Be sure to include any jobs that you've had, including part-time jobs, that involved reading gauges and dials of machinery. Also include any jobs during which you interacted with customers or patients, because this is an important aspect that employers of dialysis technicians look for.

  4. Step 4

Write down your educational background. Educational requirements for dialysis technicians vary, but list all of your educational degrees and any special courses you took in the medical field. Include your grade point average if you believe it would be looked upon favorably by future employers. Also include the dates you took the courses and the dates that you earned your degrees.

  5. Step 5

Finish your resume with a section that lists any clubs or organizations to which you belong, especially any ones that involve electronic equipment such as ham radios, or medical-related clubs or volunteer work in hospices.

  6. Step 6

Read through your resume, correcting any grammar errors or mistakes. Type the resume into a computer document and print it out.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be ready to attend an interview at a moment's notice. Sometimes a hospital might have an urgent need to fill a position. You can optionally end your resume by listing your references, but usually references are requested after an interview.
  • A dialysis technician can require work hours that do not fit a normal 8-hour workday.
