How to Use a PS3 Controller on a Vista PC

Download the right driver to use your PS3 controller on a Windows Vista PC.

PC games are exploding in popularity thanks to better graphic cards and game emulators. Unfortunately, many people are still stuck playing their favorite games with their computer keyboards or generic joysticks. This no longer has to be the case, since it is now possible to use your PS3 controller to operate any video game on your PC. In the past, the process for connecting your PS3 controller was more difficult for Windows Vista users, but now there is a driver that works equally well with both Vista and XP.

Instructions

1. Turn on your computer and plug the PS3 controller into your computer's USB port.

2. Go to the website hardcoreware.net/how-to-use-ps3-controller-vista/ and scroll down the page until you locate the phrase "download the appropriate drivers." Click on the words, which are in red text.

3. Open the driver software and follow the on-screen prompts to load the driver onto your computer. Then, restart your computer.

Tips & Warnings

• If your computer still does not recognize the controller after restarting, try pressing the controller's center button.
