How to Make a Lollipop Washcloth

Lollipop washcloths are simple craft projects for children of all ages. Use bath soaps, scented bath beads or a small loofah in the center for a fun surprise. For small children, place another washcloth in the center so the lollipop can be used in the bathtub. Make a bouquet of lollipop washcloths as a gift for house warmings, baby showers or birthday presents. Kids can make this easy craft for mother's day presents.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose the color washcloth you want for the lollipop head. Lay it flat on a workspace. If you are using thin washcloths, lay another in a complementing color on top. Place two small, wrapped bath soaps, a handful of scented bath beads or a small loofah in the center.

    • 2

Paint the wooden craft dowel a solid color and allow it to dry completely. Stand the dowel in the center of the washcloth next to the soaps, beads or loofah. Hold the dowel upright with one hand. Use the other hand to wrap the corners and edges up around the center fillings and the dowel. The center fillings will form a bulb for the head of the lollipop.

    • 3

Wrap a rubber band around the washcloths and dowel at the base of the lollipop head to secure everything. Cover the rubber band with a piece of ribbon. Wrap the ribbon several times around the dowel and tie it in a bow.

    • 4

Hold the lollipop washcloth by the dowel as a stick. For small children, place another washcloth in the center instead of soaps, beads or a loofah. Use the lollipop washcloth in the bathtub by holding the stick and rubbing the washcloth head around the body.

    • 5

Make a bouquet of lollipop washcloths for gift baskets. Place a block of florist's foam in a small gift basket. Make at least five lollipop washcloths and stick them into the foam so they poke out like flowers. Cover the foam with bath soaps, tissue paper or bath beads.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a back scrubbing sponge with a wooden handle as the center and stick to save time.

  • Never leave a child unattended with lollipop washcloths in the bathtub.
