You may also want to make goody bags for your child's classmates if the school throws a Christmas party. Instructions

    • 1

Find out how many goody bags you need. This number should be based on how many children you expect to attend your party or how many classmates your child has. This number will be used to determine how much candy or trinkets to buy.

    • 2

Search your local dollar store or department store to buy the goody bags. If you can't find any you like, you can always order some from Oriental Trading Post (see resources). Oriental Trading Post has the largest selection and its prices are the lowest around. They will most likely come in packs of 8 or 12, so divide the number of children by how many are in each pack and you will see how many packs you need to purchase.

    • 3

Buy some candy canes and place one it each bag. Christmas isn't Christmas without candy canes. It is up to you whether you buy the traditional red and white candy canes or the more colorful ones. You should only need to buy two or three boxes of candy canes, which don't cost more than $1 each, to have enough for all of the goody bags.

    • 4

Buy a bag of chocolate Christmas candies. These candies are wrapped in red and green foil. You can buy plain chocolate or something like Reese's cups. Place one or two candies in each bag.

    • 5

Purchase a pack or two of some Christmas pencils. Children always use pencils in school and this way they will have a pencil with some Christmas spirit. Pencils are very inexpensive to buy and make a great addition to any goody bag.

    • 6

Buy a sheet of stickers for each goody bag. These stickers can be of common Christmas things such as wreaths, Santa, elves, presents or Christmas trees. They could also be religious in nature, such as ones showing the manger scene.

    • 7

Finish off the bags with any trinkets that you like. You can buy these in bulk from Oriental Trading Post or from a store like Wal- Mart. Party supply stores will also have these items. You could go with reindeer bubbles, Santa bookmarks or silicone bracelets.

Tips & Warnings

  • Instead of buying goody bags, you can make some out of brown paper lunch bags and some Christmas stamps.

  • Don't place more than 10 items in a goody bag. It becomes a little overwhelming for the children.
