How to Work at the Disney Store
No matter what price point a store's products are, most retail jobs are all alike. You wait on customers and then ring up their purchases, time after time. Things are a little different at The Disney Store, however. Employees get to watch Disney movies and sing-along videos all day long, and be a mini-extension of "the happiest place on Earth." If you'd like to work at The Disney Store, here are a few things to keep in mind.

1
Be of age. The Disney Store hires only employees who are eighteen years old or older. If you're too young, you'll have to wait until your eighteenth birthday.
-
2
Go to the Disney Store branch at which you want to work and ask for an application. Do this when the counter person is not busy. If you see a long line of customers, don't try to squeeze in to the side and ask for an application, and don't get in line to request one. Instead, be courteous and allow the staff to wait on the customers. You can browse around the store until you see that there is nobody in line, and then request your application.

3
Read over the application carefully and completely before you fill it out. Fill out your application entirely. Like most employers, The Disney Store doesn't want to bother with people who can't follow directions. This means when they ask you to fill out the application, they want it filled out completely. Neatness also counts.
-
4
List adults for references on your Disney Store application. If you're a young person with no job experience, you can list people who can vouch for your maturity and responsibility, such as neighbors or teachers. Be sure to ask your references' permission before listing them on a job application.
-
5
Return to the store to turn in your application. Inquire about the store's policy for interviews. If possible, make an appointment for an interview before you leave the store. If they say they'll call you to schedule an interview, give them a phone number to a line with an answering machine or voice mail, so that you won't miss the call.
-
6
Arrive for your interview early. Remember to allow for traffic and parking when you leave your home to go to your interview. Arrive fifteen minutes early. This will show your prospective employer that you can be punctual.
-
7
Show your love of Disney. For your interview, wear a Disney watch or tie, or carry a Disney hand bag. The interviewer will definitely notice this, and it might open up a line of conversation.
-
8
Sell yourself. Above all, Disney Store employees should be happy, energetic, and have a somewhat animated personality. Show your interviewer that you are capable of this. This doesn't mean talk loudly or act "cartoony." What it does mean, is that you should speak with a smile on your face, convey energy, and maintain eye contact. This will show your interviewer that you will be able to connect with customers.
-
9
Add something. When the interview is over, the interviewer will most likely ask if you have anything to add. Don't say "no." Set yourself apart. Tell them about your love of Disney movies (or Mickey, or Walt Disney), and that you look forward to joining the Disney family by working for The Disney Store.
