Hang curtains or add shutters as your room décor dictates. If the wall around your dorm window is also affected with angles resulting in low ceilings, use the space for seating or decorative storage.

White clapboard shutters work as window treatments and a simple white rocking chair is a nice touch for added seating. Accessorize minimally with pictures of rocky cliffs and light blue water or deserted stretches of sand and sea.

Embrace the cottage feel of a Cape Cod-style bedroom with deep blue walls halfway covered by white bead board below the wainscoting. Select a white or mahogany poster bed, and mismatch the remaining white furniture. Place an overstuffed floral fabric chair next to a table and a small bookcase to create a reading nook. Add a fluffy down comforter covered by a solid white or floral duvet and too many pillows and soft billowy curtains for a cozy, yet airy feel to your Cape Cod cottage.
