  1. How to Draw A Pink Flamingo

    • 1

Rough out the basic shapes for your flamingo. A flamingo has a small round head on top of a long neck. You can draw the neck in any shape you want, but a good shape to try is an "S" shape. A flamingo has an oval body like an egg with a short tail that points downward.

Add in the beak. The beak is nearly as big as the head and has a sharp downward hook. Since flamingos often stand on one leg only, it's fun to draw only one leg. Add in the leg and foot with a small bump where the flamingo's knee goes.

Once you have the shape down, trace the lines you want with ink. Add in the eye and details on the beak. Wait till the ink is completely dry, then erase the pencil lines carefully.

Now you can color in your flamingo with a pink marker. Or, you can scan the flamingo and use Adobe Photoshop or The Gimp (open source photo-editing software) to color in your flamingo (see link in Resources).

    • 5
      Solid-Colored Flamingo

If you're using software to color in your flamingo, first start by filling in the basic colors with your Paint Bucket tool. Flamingos can be many different shades of white, pink and red. This one is coral. Fill in the leg with dark yellow and the tip of the beak in black.

    • 6
      Adding White Feathers

Use your mouse or a digital pen to paint in some white feathers. Keep the paintbrush tool at 50 percent transparency. Paint in the brown details on the beak.

    • 7

Use one shade darker than your coral color to paint in some shadow. Again, keep your paintbrush tool partially transparent so the shadow blends well.

Use your Paint Brush tool in coral (partially transparent) to soften the feathers and shading you've drawn. Now your bird is complete.
