How to Create Postage Labels
If standing on a long line at the post office is not your idea of a fun afternoon, learn how to create postage labels online and print them at home. The United States Post Office (USPS) and other delivery services like FEDEX and UPS prefer that you use these online services to reduce costs. When you ship using a preprinted label that includes postage, all you have to do is walk into the post office, drop your package at the front desk (or in the mailbox if the package is small enough) and go about your business.

Sign up for a Paypal business or premier account. Be sure that your account is linked to a checking account or credit card that has enough money to cover the postage cost. Click the link for "Paypal MultiOrder Shipping," which is toward the top left of your dashboard. If you have an Excel sheet already prepared with the name and full address of your recipient, click "Import" to upload that file. If you want to manually enter the recipient information, press "Create." When done entering shipping information, click "Save and Close." You will then be able to pay for, view and print your new postage label. Paypal and USPS will debit your Paypal balance, checking or credit card account.

Visit USPS.com's online "Click-n-Ship" website (direct link under "Resources"). Create an account. Enter your return address, and then enter the address of the recipient. If you will be mailing packages regularly to this recipient, select "Save in Address Book." Enter the package information, including the weight, date and type of service. You will need to enter a credit card number to be charged for postage. Once approved, a label will pop up on screen to be printed.

Go to Endicia.com or a similar postage printing service. You will need to download the postage printing software (Endicia's is called "DAZzle") to your computer. With this special software, which is linked to the USPS, you can create new postage labels directly from the downloaded program, and have the fees debited from your credit card or checking account.

If you need a package shipped expeditiously, FEDEX and UPS both have easy-to-use postage label printing services as well. Simply create a new account, select "Prepare Shipment," enter address information as well as specific details about the shipment (including weight, whether it is residential or commercial, shipment value and dimensions of the package), and choose the FEDEX or UPS service that you need (such as Next Day or Ground services). Once you press "Ship," you will be taken to a page where you can print your label.
