      Open the graphics program on your computer and create a new raster layer that is 5 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall. This raster layer is the foundational layer on which you will create your invitation.

      Open the JPEG image of your new home and resize it to 3.75 inches by 2.625 inches. Add this image as a layer on top of the foundational raster layer. This will be the picture side of your postcard invitation.

      Position the image at the top of the raster layer to allow room for text underneath. Add a line of text that says something like "Housewarming Party." Choose a font you like and center the text underneath the picture.

      Merge the text layer and the other two layers and save this as a JPEG image on your hard drive.

      Create a new foundational raster layer that is 5 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall.

      Fill in the raster layer with a plain white background color.

      Draw a vertical line down the center of the raster layer.

      Enter the details about the party as a text layer. Include your name(s), the date, the time, and the address of your new home.

      Enter concise directions to your new home as a text layer under the party information text layer.

      Merge your layers and save as a JPEG image on your hard drive.

      Print out the invitations on card stock paper. Print one side of the invitation and then reinsert the card stock into the printer to print the second side. It may take some trial and error to get the printing correct.

      Address the invitations and place postcard stamps on them for mailing.

Tips & Warnings

  • If printing the invitations is too complicated, save your two JPEG images onto a flash drive or CD and take it to a printer to have your invitations printed professionally.
