How to Use Recycled Cans for Earrings

Easy-to-make earrings

Shiny metallic earrings can be made easily with cutouts from old soft drink cans. Their texture is smooth and shiny, yet can easily be molded.

Things You'll Need

• Empty used cans (washed and dried)
• Scissors
• Thin rod
• Sharp cutter
• Earring loops
• Pliers

Instructions

1. Make a cut from the top to the bottom of the can using a sharp cutter. Lay the piece out flat, shiny side up.

2. Mark two 1-inch strips horizontally if you want longer earrings, vertically if smaller. The size and length can be adjusted according to taste.

3. Wrap the strips around the thin rod tightly. Hold for a few seconds to set, then slide off the rod leaving the strips coiled.

4. Pierce a small hole on the top of the spiral using scissors. Attach the earring hooks through the holes. Secure tightly with pliers to finish.

5. 

   Stick tiny rhinestones on the center or sides if you wish to make them more flashy, or leave them simple to go with any outfit.

Tips & Warnings

• Paint the colored side of the can in the color of your choice. Stick small stones or gems to add more zing to your earrings. The design or shape of the earrings can be altered according to your taste. Pierce small holes, and add tiny colored or silver balls at the bottom of the earrings.

• Be careful of the can's sharp edges, as they may cut your skin.
