Use Drapery Clip Rings

Hanging curtains and draperies are a snap when using drapery clip rings. Change the look of a room in an instant using items other than readymade curtains to spruce up your home. You can use tea towels for quick kitchen curtains, shower curtains cut down to fit a bathroom window and soft billowy fabric for a romantic look in your bedroom. No need for sewing, cutting or struggling with hooks again.

Things You'll Need:

  • Drapery clip rings
  • Decorative curtain rod
  • Curtains
  1. Step 1

Measure the window in which the curtain will be hung. If hanging curtains on the inside of the window frame, measure from one inside edge to the other and use a tension rod. If hanging curtains on the outside edges of the window frame, measure from one outside edge to the other. Add approximately 4-inches to the total measurement. Buy a curtain rod to fit this measurement. Attach the hardware for the curtain rod 2 inches out on either side of the window frame and approximately 2 inches above the window frame.

  2. Step 2

Decide what type of window treatment you wish to hang in the window; a valance, a pair of curtains or a one piece curtain. Measure the length of the window from the top of the window frame to the bottom. Add approximately 2 to 4 inches to this measurement to determine the length for your curtain.

  3. Step 3

Lay the curtain or valance out flat on the floor. Attach the clip rings starting at the left edge and working to the right. Attach the first ring about 1/2-inch from the left edge and place the rings about every 2 to 4 inches. The rings can be adjusted after they are hung on the curtain rod.

  4. Step 4

Slip the clip rings over the curtain rod. Hang the curtain rod. If using a tension rod push one end of the rod onto the left side of the window frame and push in until the rod springs back. Attach to the right side of the window frame. If using a curtain rod on the outside of the window frame hang the rod to the hardware you already attached.

  5. Step 5

Adjust the curtain as needed. Add or take off clip rings until you get the look you desire. To change curtains simply unclip the curtain and reattach a new curtain.
