How to Download an Arabic Keyboard
The ability to communicate effectively and succinctly in another language with a computer is tied to how well and how efficiently you can use your keyboard. If you want to write in Arabic, but you do not want the expense and hassle of purchasing an Arabic keyboard, then a downloaded overlay may be your solution.

1
Locate a keyboard download that's right for your computer. Both Brothersoft and Soft 32 (see Resources) have downloadable keyboard software and overlays for sale. Follow the website's instructions for paying for your download.

2
Save the download. For ease of installation, it is recommended that you download the software to your desktop so it is easily visible after you close your web browser.

3
Install the software. After downloading your preferred keyboard program, double-click on the software icon to begin the installation process. Follow the on-screen prompts (such as where to save the file to, what word processing application the software will apply to and agreeing to the end-user license) to install the downloadable keyboard.

Tips & Warnings
Instead of downloads, you could opt to use a "virtual keyboard," such as that found at Muftah Alhuruf's website (see Resources). The keyboard is actually an internet application that allows you to type in Arabic. Practice typing through the use of free typing tutors (see Resources).
