A pregnant woman needs to accommodate her growing baby. At some point during the pregnancy, you will need to adjust your wardrobe. During early pregnancy, you can use your regular pants, with a slight adjustment, to save money on maternity outfits. Make an inexpensive pants extender with items you already have.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pants with a button fly
  • Sturdy rubber band
  1. Step 1

Put on your regular pants. Pull them up to your waist. Button as many of the buttons as you can comfortably button, until you get to the point that your pants are too tight.

  2. Step 2

Take the rubber band and thread it through the top button hole. Center the rubber band in the button hole. There should be two loops of rubber band sticking out from the hole.

  3. Step 3

Pinch the two rubber band loops together. Stretch the two loops toward the top pants button. Loop the rubber band over the button.

  4. Step 4

Grasp the rubber band, pull up and twist it to form a smaller loop. The rubber band should still be looped over the button. Loop the rubber band over the button a second time to pull your pants tighter.

  5. Step 5

Continue wrapping the rubber band around the top pants button. When your pants feel comfortable, stop wrapping the button.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wear a long shirt to cover your makeshift pants extender.
  • Use a strong rubber band. A flimsy one could break.
